    Hey all,

So I have a, according to the vin number, 83 XJ750K, and also according to the vin 10/82.

My problem is, I currently have forks on the bike that do not have the air tube connecting the forks but I want to replace them with forks I got that do have them. The lower triple tree on the replacement forks has the headlight mount on the opposite side and Id like to keep the round headlight.

So my question is, can I remove the air tube, swap the lower triple tree, and replace the air tube? Or is this going to cause untold problems and nightmares? My Haynes manual talks about replacing dust and oil seals but hardly mentions it other than an exploded diagram.

    Thanks guys.

Sad to say Im unsure on both. I got them a year or more ago, but I believe the replacements are for an 83. And I think the forks on it are original or for an 82 or possibly a 650.

Show is the lower part of the forks.
650 maxim has only one caliper on the left .
750 maxim has lowers sort of like the 650 but calipers on both sides.
750 seca has two calipers but also has anti-dive units

10/82 build would indicate - 1983 model.... hence the “K”.... and the correct round headlight

    So, let’s see the lowers

You can just swap the air collars to the other forks.

As long as they are the size of the collar, and have the hole for the air crossover, and have the ring clip to hold the collars in place
