First welcome aboard. Since you say you recently bought the bike you probably know little that previous owner had done to the bike. If the clutch is shot it can be replaced but why would you want to replace the engine? How many miles are on the bike? Is the clutch slipping? We need more info on what is happening to advise you on what to look at. Chuncks in the oil is never good but it could also be signs P.O. neglected changing the oil was oil really black ? You might have to flush oil another time to clean it out seafoam helps . Just my 2 cents good luck.

If it's hard plastic looking chunks, it's possible that the chain guide is disintegrating

pull the clutch cover see what it looks like. if bike has oil in it you mak have to drain it or lean the bike over and support with out kick stand.

then pull the shifter side cover and see if there are chunks in the hole, see this post
