Need help with solenoid

    Hey guys, new here, this might have been posted but I couldn't find anything. My starter button doesn't work and when I jump the solenoid nothing happens, checked with test light there is power to the solenoid but crossing big leads on solenoid does nothing. What would cause this?

    sounds like its the starter motor itself, you could try cleaning up all the connections from solenoid to motor , also the earth connections, on battery and on engine casing, you dont say which bike, so dont know where your earths are.

    I'll try cleaning contacts and grounds tommrow, it's an 83 xj750 seca
