new master cylinder

    Tough call. I'd have to have one in hand to tell if it is worth the cost. At least the bore size is correct, which is not always the case with aftermarket master cylinders.
    One difference from stock is that it's designed for flatter bars than the Maxim came with.

    Isn't your bike a Seca?
    If so you'll need to do some minor work on the switchgear housing in order to fit a bar-mounted master cylinder.

    mines a xj750 p bit of a slap together for the police force it has this same looking master cylinder i have to study parts hard for my model but generaly xj750k parts fit it mostly

    I figured as much after I went to bed. I'd pretty well think that master cylinder would work fine then.
