Just brought home my next project. Its a 1980 XS400 Special. I know it's not the XJ version of the XS400, but I like it and I'm going bring it back to it's original glory.

    The good news:
    No rust in tank
    No rust on any chrome
    No rust on forks
Pipes in great shape, one very small ding
    Wiring intact
    Have both side covers
Have both air boxes (boots missing)
    MC not frozen
All the screws on the carbs are pristine. Doesn't look like anybody who wasn't carefull was into the carbs (I'll soon find out)
Pulled the plugs and they had a good color to them. Threads not stripped.

This bike is included in the Cross Reference Chart on my XJCD's. A quick look showed this bike shares rear brake pads with the XJ 550's!

    The bad news:
    Seat cover appears non stock.
    Missing a mirror
Large dent on left side of tank
Several cracks in the badge letters

This is a really simple, basic bike. I''m not missing any major component so there is no reason to not bring this bike back to 100% stock.

Now I get to tinker while I can still ride the Seca! (Which by the way is running like it never ran before. Seems like the winter sleep must have been good for it)

    Here's a pic

Cute little scooter you have there! They seem so small now, but were perfect back in the day when people drove normal.
