So I've been having an issue ever since I overhauled my carbs and synched them the other day... I've had to keep the idle unusually high to keep it from dying. Well, it just so happened that I was taking it for a ride around the block when I came to a stop sign and it just up and died underneath me. I restarted it, and drove it back to my shop. First thing I thought of was that maybe It was not firing on all cylinders when at idle. So I used my colortune to verify that in fact, cylinders 1 and 4 fire all the time, at any rpm range, while 2 and 3 only fire when the bike opens up to about 4 grand.

Could this be a result of a bad coil possibly?

Swap the two connections from the coils to the wiring harness ... if the other two are the ones not firing after you swap the coils ...

    Bingo.
