1. Some members were not receiving emails sent from XJbikes.com. For example: "Forgot your password?" function to reset your password would not send email to some members. I believe this has been resolved now. Please use "Contact Us" form (see page footer link) if you still have email issues. SnoSheriff

Had a problem yesterday with the forum. every time I opened a different page or post on XJbikes a small window would pop up. Window was blank with error 404(page not found) in the title bar. Closed and reopened site and still there

Took a while to annoy the cr@p out of me so I looked at the page source. Found a window.open statement relating to PM's. Looked in my inbox and sure enough someone sent me a PM. Read it and the problem went away.

Question is, why the 404 error. I don't use any popup blocker on this comp. I do use Zonealarm lite version but can't see any options for blocking in this version.(I know the pay for version has it)

Using win2000 and no blocker in IE version I have.

    Any Suggestions????

PS. Anyone want to send me a test PM to see if it's still happening today. If it does I'll do a screen capture of the window.

Ok, JDRich sent me a PM and that helped me sort out where the error lies and might give Sno something to do.

Error came up as attached. Now the problem seems to be the way I enter the forum. Being a lazy Aussie my shortcut into the forums is this.

    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/search/se ... posts.html

Which takes me straight to new posts and bypasses three or four mouse clicks. Doing it this time gave me the same error window so I took a screen cap and clicked on Forum Index to find this post and put in a reply.
Once the forum index loaded the PM notification box came up as it should.
I clicked close window then went back to new posts and no more popups.

All good, but shows there may be a bug in the notification if one doesn't enter via the forum index.

No big problem as now I know what it is, it's easily fixed.

Sorry, Sno, I know you have enough to do without me giving you work. :?

Funny you should mention this 'feature'. I've seen this blank notification error on my work PC but at home it's all good. At work I use IE (like you in the screen shot) but at home I use Firefox.
