I've been told that you don't need to use the tool in order to do a compression test. I'm curious now...

Is this because the compression occurs as the piston rises toward to the top of the cylinder, which is clearly above the YICS port?

That is to say the YICS only does its thing as the piston is close to it's lowest point in the cylinder and is "irrelevant" for that cylinder after the piston rises above it?

Weird question, I know. Just trying to visualize it all.

The YICS system works with the intake system - -on the intake stroke.
Testing compression is done with the intake valve closed, on the compression stroke.
Throttle held wide open, plugs all 4 out, ignition disabled, and battery on a 2/10 car charger for best numbers.

Yics is not connected to the jugs, it is just molded in. It connects through the head.

To clarify: The YICS ports are to the intake runners, not directly into the cylinder. Therefore they are behind the valves and do not affect compression.
