For Sale, a complete carb rack reputedly from a 1980 Maxim. Not pristine but they worked on my XJ750 while Dave Hogfiddled a set. I have installed new throttle shaft seals and a float. They have been cleaned but did not go to church. An expert suggested I ask $75 plus shipping so we will start there. 15715139519703173656372624136481.jpg 15715140234956573453485235031893.jpg 15715140601117269968005745768894.jpg

did it have fine or course mixture screw threads? that would help ID the year.

Upon further examination the mixture screws are coarsely threaded. Thanks again to that seemingly endless source of XJ info, Chacal.

For my curiosity, what year or model does it make it? Weather being course or fine?

The coarse-threaded mixture screws were used on 1980-81 XJ650 Maxim and XJ650 Midnight Maxim models, and some of the early XJ650 Euro model carbs. Some early-production 1982 XJ650RJ Seca models may have also used them. We have never seen them used in the 1981-82 XJ750 model carbs, which is odd, since the bare carb bodies are (for all practical purposes) identical between the 650 and 750 model Hitachi carbs...….

only real reason to know is that you set course mixture screw different than a fine screw for the initial soft bottom install. I think 1.8 turns vs 2-1/2 turns.
some of the older carbs have less screws on the frame and a different carb bowl drain set up

Well, if no one NEEDS a rack of carbs, who WANTS them. Feel free to make a reasonable offer.
