    ..any tips ?

Gripping outside metal part of seal with cranked, thin nosed pliers is not very effective..

I usually have no problem removing them with needle nose pliers, just squeeze them hard, turn and pull. If that doesn't work I use needle nose vice grips. Last resort is heating them up briefly with a propane torch which expands the rubber and they come off with ease.

Are you talking about the actual rubber valve stem used for tubeless tyres? sidecutters right at the base of them or push it slightly one side and use a sharp knife

No. He's talking about the oil seals for the head valves.

Just yank them off, you're not going to reuse them....

When you install the new seals make sure they are fully seated. Some may appear to be down but may not be.

I made a tool to put them on but I'm thinking a 1/8 inch pipe nipple 3inches long might work. Put the valve in to make it straight then slide the seal down with the pipe. Their kind of click when seated.
