Noticed a burning smell while riding and I look down and see this on my engine on the left side. Is this a valve cover gasket issue? Just want to know before I buy one and spend time replacing it.

Possibly, although I don't see any oil below the gasket itself, was any wiped off before the picture was taken?

Leaking at the back, and flowing forward once it hits the fin?

Could’ve wiped off on my pant leg. But there’s a super light oil coating near the cover
