Not sure if this is the best forum to post this in, but I guess we'll see.
The gas cap on my bike is majorly corroded. I have cleaned it up several times but it just crusts right back over. With in a day the key doesn't work to open it. Last time it got stuck shut I was on the road and had turn the lock with a screwdriver. Now it is stuck in the unlatched position, which would be fine except it spill gas, might let water in and vibrate a lot, so not really so ok.
I need to replace it. I would rather find a non-locking cap that fits the tank... is there anything out there that would work? Would like it the screw down where the old cap is now with out modifying the tank. Something like an aviation or Monza cap.

Thank you, I may go with one like that (that specific one says it does not fit an 82 Maxim), but was really hoping to go keyless.

I have been looking at the cap from the radian(built from the 550maxim). Same tank different cap style and still available from Yamaha. Only major issue is. It mounts with 3 bolts. So 2 holes would have to be drilled & tapped.

it is a bit more complicated than 2 holes

you would be better off putting a raidian tank on your bike . you may have to mod the tank as I do not know if it would direct fit. the shape of maxim is different than a radian tank
