I actually stabbed myself with one while checking them, the dang thing. They all look pretty sharp. I'm missing something dumb, I'm gonna walk away from it for a couple days and then come back to the carbs. It's gotta be an issue in there somewhere I haven't seen. There's also a set of four on the rack off a running 700 on ebay.....maybe I should just grab them up and see what's what.

OK, I just read all back through this thread; and although I see that you have a stock intake and exhaust, nowhere is there any mention of the AIR FILTER.

Since it does have a stock intake system, have you had the airbox lid off and had a peek at the air filter yet?

Part of me was kinda thinking that since the engine only pulls excess fuel when it's under higher revs that something must be leaking anyway. For diagnostic purposes, have you considered swapping parts from a good carb to a bad one (I.e. carbs 1 and 4) to see if the problem follows the part or the carb?

Oh I guess I never answered that, Fitz. The filter's new, looks good, I put it on in April, maybe got 200 miles on it.

So...between the one and four, swap...Hmm, maybe start with the vacuum piston and needle? Or the enrichment plunger maybe.
