Hi all, new to this board and new to the motorcycle scene in general.

My first bike is an 83 750 Seca which I picked up from my electrician pretty cheap. The forks are fairly pitted and cause some leaking and the suggestions so far have been to replace the forks or have them ground out and hard chromed again.

Scoping the online parts, I see forks described as 81-83, 81 and 83. My question is, are the forks from these years' 750 Seca interchangeable?

    Cheers

Yes, all 1981-83 XJ750 Seca forks are the same!

I have an extra set of complete fork tubes(no triple clamps). They came off of my sons, '82 Seca 750. They're in pretty good shape but they've been sitting unused for a year or two now. Probably need seals and certainly will need fresh oil.

    hi all,

while we r on this topic. I have got an 83 xj750 (Australian delivered & sticked 750) but it's got XJ900 frame, fairings, wheels front and back are both disc brake! it's got the YICS.

What i would like to know is. Are there any Seca or Maxim out there that has got the same forks (37mm dia) As i would like to change the ugly 2 piece cruising handle bars. In order for me to do this I have to change the Top Triple clamp! So if any one out here has got a 37mm dia forks please state ur year and model so i can hunt some down on ebay......

I will post pics once i find some!

    thank you all
    kinen1 :)

NOt sure, but I don't think you'd have to change the whole forks to put new bars. You just need to put some bar risers then standard round-section handlebars.

    Hey there !
What you have is a SECA 900 "chassis" with a 750 motor, and "Regular" SECA 750 fork parts aren't gonna work. (not MAXIM either)
You need to scour Europe and Australia's E-Bay for a "top triple tree" that accomodates a regular chrome handlebar. Make sure the fork tube diameter are EXACTLY the same with the seller.
Shouldn't be that hard to find.

Hello kinen1, sounds to me like you've got a 750 RL model, put that in the google machine and you'll find plenty of info, probly unusual carbs too.

I am looking at cafe racer or fighter it not sure which yet..... I will post it in the XJ MOD once i get started. Just to go get this Top triple clamp sorted!

Now that I have found a bit more info on it. I am not sure if i wanna mod it.... I may do a full restored!

thanks for the info mate.

The jetting is "non-USA" most likely, and the intake airbox-to-carb boots are unique, , , and should not be lost or destroyed.
You have a rare, low production # XJ and it should remain "stock"
You could "cafe" any other bike, but not a rare one.
