When setting the float levels, is there and acceptable range that the floats can differ on a set of carbs.

I have a 85 xj700 n. I think it's a mikuni carburetor. Service manual says float height should be 16mm plus or minus 1mm, and fuel level should be 1mm plus or minus 1mm.

So is it acceptable for one carbs fuel level to be 2mm while another is 0mm, or should they all be the same level.

They are Hatachi carbs. Wet set is 1.0 mm, +/- 1. I would get all of them the same.

The 16 mm float setting just gets you close enough to make the wet setting easier.

I have the same bike and have all mine set at 2mm.

Ideally all should be the same, but there isn't any operational difference if one carb is set 1mm below or above another. They just all need to be within the correct range.
