When I put in gear i feel shaking in the back tire, the bike is new to me is it because of the shaft drive, I thought it would be a little smoother. Second question I charge the battery and then crank the bike after a while the bike cuts off and wont crank but after I hook up a charger cranks right up, I would say alternator if it was a car but its not any ideas and ways to test ideas. Thanks

how does it feel while you are riding? does it shake side to side? and it sounds like you may need to replace or deep charge your battery.

Your rear tire should not shake. You need to make sure the wheel is true and the tire is round. If both are good it needs to be balanced.

Have you been starting the bike a lot, then just letting it idle?

At idle the alternator has just enough output to keep up, nothing left to charge with. Mine will run the battery down while idling, but I have some extra lighting.

Check it in neutral at 2K RPM. You should have 14V.

Oh, check the front tire/wheel too. Don't want to find out it has the same problem as the rear at 70 MPH.
