I agree....those 5 or 10 drops sitting on top of the oil......may lead someone to prematurely drain their oil and replace filter also......got to be a better way....

What is the best weight oil to get if it needs to be changed? The PO said he changed it out a week before I bought it, but like it was mentioned, it could be contaminated. 24k miles, I'll look in the Manuel when I wake up, but everyone here seems knowledgeable so I figured I would ask.

That's an old pic, and 30 years later she is a bit faded, even though garaged all those years. I used your bike in a pic yesterday to show your nice ride.

Well, probably not a better way than to have it tested, but that would be a waste of time. However, if there is no bubble at the top of the sight glass and a strong odor of gas.... now that's getting fairly conclusive.

The local motocross guys have them for racing on the lake in the winter time. I'm good just letting the maxim sit over the winter. I've gone down a few times in the snow and ice messing around with the mini bike. I'd hate to try it with anything else

He full of it, or ignorant. Len has the parts, as well as a whole slew of us here. Your bike doesn't have anything that's unobtanium.
Call Len, ask me, ask around here.... someone's got your parts.

    Clicking--- I'd check the u-joint

Time has been limited or weather has not been allowing me to actually take it out of the garage. Either tomorrow or Sunday I'll be draining the oil, checking for flakes, and putting new oil in it because I can smell gas when I put my nose to the fill plug.
I'll drain the final drive output again to double check that oil as well, but I looked at the oil I removed out of it, didn't look bad at all, just in case.
I accidentally left the petcock "on" so I have to take the spark plugs out and start it because it's flooded, I didn't see an off setting so I didn't know where to set it when not riding.
After that I'll be putting it on the center stand and video the sound and where it is coming from, I'll upload it to YouTube or something and link it.
Someone told me their shaft driven bike did a sound like that before and it was something like "there is a plastic piece in the final drive output that could have come loose or something". But I'm not sure if that would explain it being in second gear alone. It still pulls fine, doesn't hesitate changing into second from first or third. But I'll have more info this weekend and update the topic.

first the oem petcock has no off . run reserve and prime are your choices. flooded because the petcock was left on ? that means you have 2 problems.
you need to disconnect the fuel line from the petcock to make sure the petcock is working correctly. There should only be fuel flow in the prime position. if fuel flows in run or reserve your petcock is bad.
next problem is if fuel flooded your motor when it sat overnight you have leaking carbs float needle valve needs to be checked.
check your oil level to see if fuel filled your crank case too.
