Steering Head bearing replacement - 1982 Maxim

    Ok... here's my effort at replacing the steering head bearing on an XJ750J.

    Hopefully it helps... and hopefully it's not too frightening! :)

    According to the Haynes manual for the 900f it is necessary to tighten the adjuster nut to the pre-load torque setting specified at the beginning of the chapter which is 50Nm, then slacken the nut off completely and tighten it again to the normal setting 3Nm. Has anyone done this when replacing the bearings?
