Straighten Pipes.

    Hey, here is something I did to lower the pipes on my 550, I needed room for saddlebags, and I wanted a stright exhaust look. Under the chrome cover right behind where it comes off the collector if you heat it and slowly apply force with a tube just slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the pipe you can get the exhaust to straighten out and give it a starighten look without changing pipes. If you want to see I will post pics in my gallery, I will mark them with the modifications, I also added the bags, and a pair of soft tail highway bars (glipped upside down and on the opposite sides than an HD, but know they fit my XJ like a dream, makes for a great ride on the highway).

    Great job K-bar!! Very nice results, I know a few members had posted earlier about wanting straighter pipes, now we can just direct them to this thread... :wink:

    Did you use a torch for the heating? Also did it change the sound any>

    The sound may have changed just a little bit but only to the ear that rides it all the time, otherwise it still has it normal sound.

    I used a propane torch as to not put them under to much heat and weaken the steel, just enought so that they atart turnign color and then gently apply downward prussure,
