My bike came with the needle missing on the Tach. I have been looking at replacing either the whole unit (Speedo+ tach) with another one or one for a Seca. I was outbid on eBay twice, but I was wondering if it is possible to only change out the Tach? Has anyone ever tried to insert a different tach into this console?

    heres a pic.

and the speedo and tacho can be removed seperatley

speedo needle is now white instead of a red/orange one.

    be gentle in there too.

Well I finally got the needle glued on. It works, BUT it only shows up to 2000 rpm. No matter how much I rev it up, it mostly stays around 1500. So I will look for a replacement aftermarket electric Tach

I might have a tach for you from an 82xj750j. I will take a look at work tomorrow. The PO had an "incident" befor I got mine. I just replaced the whole unit with on off of a Seca of the same vintage. Looks a little strange but works nicely. I will let you know on the tach from my old one tomorrow. Randy

    samsr , good one....

Blackhammer , sure the needle is not rubbing on the glass ? and i assume you checked if the needle moved all the way around "before" you put it all back together? anyways looks like it no matter now but one could still have another go at it and =spare

Nope needle is hosed. Whole tach looks to be junk. Good speedo and cpu though. Any one need some dach parts from an 82xj750?
