tank rust removal

    SnoSheriff did you try this too. I am going to give this try in the off season before i get my tank painted.

    No, I haven't tried this but it's an inexpensive experiment worth trying. Keep us posted on your progress :wink:

    It will be a few weeks till I give it try but i'll take some before and after pictures and post them on bikepics.com and here.

    Before I had my Tank, Fenders, and Side covers repainted I took my tank to my local radiator shop and for $60 he used one of the tank liner kits where they use the acid to clean it, then a neutralizer, then a protective coating (not sure who made the kit) He did a nice job, and 3 years later still looks great. He told me what they did, and I would do it myself if I ever get another old bike. I think the kit itself cost about $40.

    A long long time ago etc etc lol on my first basket fix it was sand, small gravel and water shake rinse repeat.
    Ive got a new basket with 5 year old gas and rust.
