Anyone ever try swapping the Virago tank on to the XJ700 for fit? Will it even work? Does the fuel petcock line up?

Virago is a very general term, what year are you talking about? I put a 2002 xv250 virago tank on my bike. Tunnel is slightly narrower, and the tank itself was shorter than my xj550 tank. I was able to swap my petcock and my gas cap over to the xv250 as a direct swap though.

Most people ask because the '84+ xv700/750/1000/1100 tank looks right like the 85-86 xj700/750/X tanks.

    BUT

    1. The tail is a different shape-- round rather than squared, round hole rather than oval.
    2. The 'shoulders' share a bit more 'pointy'
    3. The tunnel is much narrower
    4. The larger xv's also had two petcocks, AND a reserve tank tucked in below the seat, along with a fuel pump to pump from the reserve tank......

Long and short, if you have metal-working skill you can make it work, but i's gonna be time and $ consuming
