is it possible to change the throttle shaft seals on my carbs, (mikuni bs 32's) without removing the butterflies.
I have some fine seal picks, going to order new seals to do job over winter. I don't like the look of the butterfly screws, on these carbs. I did the ones on my café racer, a couple of years ago, but frightened to try taking the screws out on these?
    cheers

Unfortunately not. The construction of the linkages does not allow access to both seals unless the throttle plates and throttle shafts are removed.

I had one screw that was too stripped to remove even after grinding the back off of it, but was able to drill it out without damaging the threads....the stripped out head made a perfect center....guess I got lucky.

That bike in your pic looks like wheelbase is a little shorter than it should be

It's a shame that a woman hasn't figured out how to swap them w/o removing the butterflies....any woman can remove and replace her bra without removing her shirt...she should be able to figure out how to replace those damned seals....but till that happens, we'll be pulling valves and using bondo and locktite red!

If they aren't able, but willing to learn, I give a seminar. I don't really focus on the replacement bit...
