I'm looking for white right and left side covers, for my '81 Seca. Trying to get the bike as close to original as I can.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You're going to have to seriously "lurk" on eBay. The rights can go for over $100.

I've got a somewhat shabby (due to about 47 coats of paint) LEFT that I might be talked into selling. It's not cracked or missing any tabs or anything; just been painted a whole bunch.

As for a RIGHT hand sidecover, ya on ya own. I've been there, it can be done and without paying $120. But you gotta be quick and know how to work eBay.

Thanks for the feeback Fitz; I'll start lurking :)

Did people just take them off and throw them away or what?

It's the BATTERY side. (Nobody ever thinks about the air filter, under the left side.)

People took them off, then lost them, stepped on them, or they somehow otherwise became separated from the bike.

Additionally, once the grommets "died" from all the taking off/putting on, they could and did fly off at speed.

I've had to get one, plus a spare set (two bikes.) As a result, I keep a supply of grommets and the tab cover/bumpers on hand; any time anything even begins to be loose, or splits-- it gets replaced.

The retaining points leave a lot to be desired; only the uppper front truly engages so it's up to the rear keyholed tab and grommet to do the work. If that tab gets broken, the sidecover is doomed.

Do you know if the '81 XJ550RK ones will fit the RH?

Yep. All 3 years the same except for color schemes.
