Wasted and didn't know it

Soooooooooo, I thought I'd share my embarrassment with you guys to point out how easy it can be (for me anyway) to take too much medication and think it's okay to get on your bike. Not to go into personal details, but Monday night I guess I took too many of my prescribed meds and went to bed. Here's where it gets fuzzy....I got up and got ready for work this morning, got my gear on and was rolling the bike out of the garage. I guess at this point the bike fell over on it's right side, the only damage a busted turn signal. I tried to pick it up-2004 1200 Bandit, full tank of gas (20 litres) all three cases which were full of stuff I need for work, riding etc. etc. Couldn't do it, tried the techniques on Youtube, no way Jose. Neighbours kid, big kid, comes over and helps me lift it. I thank him, put the bike away and text my boss that I won't be in, go back to bed.
Soooo, later on my wife asks what happened and why I was not at work (see above) then tells me the lady across the street asked her if I was okay because I dropped the bike and apparently was stumbling around like I was DRUNK!!!!!!
It's still kind of fuzzy and the above is with stuff my wife helped fill in. So todays lesson kids is don't accidentally take too much medicine, I really dread to think what could have happened if I had actually got on the bike and ridden it to work today, or if I had made it to work the possibilities, as I drive a delivery truck for a living.
All I can say is it SCARED the S**T out of me and it's a lesson that only cost me a days pay and an $80.00 turn signal which I'll take any day over what might have happened.

I know how you feel.

I had a bad string of insomnia and couldnt sleep well. I got frustrated and tried taking a sleeping pill. The real stupid part of this is it wasn't prescribed for me. I took one that belonged to my sister in law who is about half my size. I figured, since most doses are based on body weight I would be ok.
Well I was very wrong. Still couldnt sleep but couldnt wake up either.
I still remember sitting at the lunch table at work wondering if it would ever wear off. Finally did but wow it was a scarey experience stuck between awake and asleep.

update......Monday was our May 24 weekend soooo, no paid holiday because I missed the next two days getting my head back on straight. The dealer price for the signal was just over 80 bucks and after further investigation the signal stalk popped a nasty hole through the front fairing. There are numerous scuffs and more cracks radiating out from the signal area and my home made hiway peg sheared one mounting bolt and bent the other.
Staying positive though, still have my licence, didn't cause injury to me or anyone else by being off the road that day, didn't lose my job and now I get to try my hand at fairing repairs. Youtubed a few and the "Black ABS" repair has my interest piqued.
No more med mistakes as I have one of those Sunday to Saturday pill reminders on my nightstand now.

Oatey. ABS cement will be your best friend

The red/white label what I normally get, but the last time I picked some up up, I got the blue/white label. It's specifically for ABS, not the plastics/pvc/general stuff

 

Yes bud, you can fix the signal......I watched my '07 DL1000 roll off the side stand when new 10 years ago and had it all fixed and looking good a few hours later. ABS repairs well. Just take your time, epoxy it tight, let it cure then sand it beginning with 400 and working your wayup to 1500 and you'll never tell the difference!

As far as you attempting to ride with your head full of cheese....brother, you were lucky that God was looking out for you because we all know that you never would have made it.....

Apparently the Oatey Black ABS cement is unobtainable on this side of the border, so seeing as I don't have to work tomorrow and the weather is supposed to be decent a road trip may be in the works. First thing I did was to check my passport, good until June 14 2017, cutting it close there! Then I went to all the Big Box hardware sites and they have 80 of the blue and white label on the shelf at Lowes in Fort Gratiot Twp. I checked for local plumbing suppliers and found this https://www.menards.com/main/plumbi...310-c-8530.htm?tid=1353409427247348768&ipos=3 unfortunately I can't do the online thing but what a price!!! So I guess I'll have to fork out the big bucks at Lowes where it is a Princely sum of $4.98 for an 8oz can, that supposed to have a shelf life of 3 years...I can cause Mayhem on my bike and have enough ABS cement to almost make a new fairing! I'll see how I feel in the morning and go from there.

 

Acetone and ABS shavings work too, or do as I've been doing since the mid 90's and weld it back together with a soldering iron and some strips of ABS sheet for filler.

Yup, the soldering iron believe it or not is your friend when dealing with plastic and don't worry when it looks all cobby....some careful block-sanding will bring it to "like new"!
