What are the old XJ 1100's selling for.

OK this bike is partially apart - motor is in ... but carbs need to come apart, air box is out, rust in tank but not deathly bad ... and general disassembled stuff everywhere ... intake manifolds are cracked etc ... most of the parts are there. I was gonna work on it, but the guy got no patience and wants to buy something that runs ... boy he thinks somehting that runs will stay running that same way forever ... is he in for a shock ...
What do these in that sorta shape sell for. Pretty low miles, no dents and decent everything except sheite that has been taken apart. I'd rather not over pay, and not rip him off either. When I sell it, he'd know what I did ...

Not running they are worth very little. XJ1100's have a few known problems with the transmission that keeps the price low when they can't be test ridden.

An exact price is hard to put on it without a pic but from your description, if everything is there, around $300 for non running machine. You need to work out what needs to be spent to make it run. I would expect $500+ by the time you have done boots, brakes etc to make it safe to ride.

You might want to check out XS11.com as they have a lot of members with XJ1100's. A search through there may get you an idea on how much people are paying.

Same problem as the XS1100. 1st and 2nd gear slipouts due to worn dogs. Can be ground and fixed, but you need to take it into account before handing over any bucks.
