What WD-40 is Really for

    I use it to clean, never lubricate. I then wipe off the WD40 and use a proper lubricating oil if required.

    WD40 is also a great label remover.

    Not sure why people think it is a great lubricant/preserver/penetrating oil. Perhaps because it says so on the can?

    Had a Ford in the early 80's that frequently when raining out would stall out. Figured out if I sprayed some WD-40 into the distributor cap I could go on my way without waiting for it to dry up

    Careful with that. There are two formulations of WD-40; one is very flammable.

    We used to use WD40 cans to make flame throwers...not very safe for a young teen...
