Its on the left side of the engine(underneath) right next to the front of the shift pedal. I think it has a single green wire attached to it. You can see it if you sit down next to the bike and look if front of the shifter. Have you checked the kick stand switch and bulbs ? The neutral saftey rarely goes bad.

Take a screwdriver and short that wire to the frame or motor and see if the light comes on. I have the same problem at the moment.

Yeah those diagrams always clear it right up.

It won't look like a switch per se, just the "nub" of a sending unit-type thing. Your oil level switch is down there too, #38 in the above diagram.

It will be mostly hidden by the frame rail by your left foot. As bf says it will look like a nub in somewhat of a cavity on the bottom of the motor. Trace the two wires that run to the bottom of the motor. One will be the oil sending unit the other will be the Holy Grail you are seeking.

If the bike bump starts then all the safetys are working.

It's a light blue wire, it might be right behind the frame, if it has been ripped off, you should try to locate the connector, not good to have broken or unattached wires lurking.

Also, order it and the bronze washer from Chacal. He'll darn near have it to you before the transaction is complete.

When we determined that mine was bad I thought no problem I'll just take it off and see if I can get the old one working. Looking a little closer, at the bare minimum I would need to remove the exhaust system. Hopefully that will be all but I thought if it will take that much effort to just get to it I was going to do this ONCE.... Ordered a new one from Chacal ($15.95) decided while I was down there I would go ahead and replace the o-ring on the oil sending unit.

P.S. Did I mention that Chacal has some sort of alien warp time machine that allows him to get the parts to you before you are ready for them?
