Okay so I think Im getting a short somewhere along the ground wire (blue-white) that goes to the starter button assembly the one which connects to the starter button when pressed! Either that or my connector is shot which is also a major possibility! Sigh this sucks!

The L(blue)/w to the start button is directly linked to the solenoid via a two pin connector that includes a R/w wire that's linked to the starting relay. The ground wire s/b Black.

My first suspect is loose pins, or bad crimps at that plug assembly.

My second suspect is one of the butt connectors that you used.

Unhook the plug and inspect/ wiggle. If you have a set of jewler's screwdrivers you can use one of the smaller slot-bladed ones to remove the pins from the plug housing. If you look closely you will se that each pin has a tab that holds it in place. Use the screwdriver to gently push the tab down toward the base of the connector and it will slide free.

+1 what k-moe said. Process of elimination. Dis-connect the connector and check for power from the main harness. Have you opened the control switch to check for loose wires?

okay so i have done the inspecting and testing the connectors for looseness and faults, and it looks like it's the connector pins on the control switch which are just way too loose! I'm just going to replace it to be safe!..you guys have any spare switch's or know of anyone or who might have a right hand control switch for this bike that they want to sell? and also are most of the yamaha control switch's in this bike category interchangeable? because i've found a few online model XJ750, XS400, XS650, XS600, Virago's and a couple of other similar-era model control switch's which all seem to be the same except for the connector part, http://www.ebay.com/itm/361707082109 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/351837967411

Yes, they fit, but be aware that the early ones were handlebar-ground, and the later ones were grounded via another wire in the pigtail. you can mix and match, but make sure that if you use one with a ground wire, that you actually have the ground wire connected to the harness for a clean ground then. It is easy to wire it in.

The starter button is the little round push button thingy....
The kill-switch is the big round knob/lever with the red line in it on top
The run/off switch is the 'light switch" rectangular thingy

Alrighty fellas back with an update.. So I got the New switch in the mail yesterday before I went to work, and I managed cut the wires out of the old connector on the harness and crimp the new connectors on, got the switch hooked up and everything seems to be working fine, no more clicking when I wiggle the connectors, (obviously) so that's good, but now I think my new solenoid which I just bought a month ago has gone bad and I haven't even rode it that much yet, just seemed to stop working, I've tested for resistance and all, but I seem to not be getting the right numbers, also I get no clicks from it when I just hook up the battery leads directly to it, you know, positive terminal on battery to positive terminal on solenoid, and when I touch the negative lead from the battery to the negative terminal on the solenoid aren't I supposed to get a click if not doesn't that mean it's bad? If I haven't tested it right maybe you guys can run me through it again so I can get this straightened out!

And also the new switch is not compatible with my current throttle twist tube! Do any of you guys know of one that fits this new switch?
