i purchased the Yamaha service manual and it says use 10w30 oil. I was wanting to put in actual fork oil but not sure what weight is close. I have done som looking and what I found is maybe 15w fork oil is close any thoughts?

10W fork oil is also reccomended in the FSM.
    I run 15W, but I weigh 225lb and I tour with luggage.
It's said that the typical rider was expected (by Yamaha) to weigh around 165 pounds.

10W was too mushy for me (nice comfy ride though), 20W too harsh under compression, 15 is just about right.

My 245lb frame makes the 15W feel a bit soft. I am going to try 20W or a mix of 15/20 on the next fork oil change.

That's one of the misprints. AFIK the 20W fork oil is assuming that you have the touring package installed.
