XJ Monster XJ YICS tool and Spin-on Oil Adaptor

I just recieved my email stateing that I'm on the current yics tool list and my tool will ship by the 23rd.

 

Just got an email this morning as well. Shipping starting the 23rd.

 

I suppose first I'll thank Rex for clueing me in to this thread.

Next I'll address the comments and questions serially.

 

So far this spin-on adapter has been installed on 650, Turbo, 700, 750 and Maxim-X XJs.

 

The cooling is a small issue unless you live in a very hot environment (like Arizona Steve and I...).

The adapter plate can be made a little oversize and have cooling fins machined into it. To date no one has wanted that feature.

Another possibility is a clamp on filter cooler.

 

The usual turnaround is 2-3 weeks. That has not been the case for months now. I am a consultant to the US military (mostly Army and AF) and with all the activity in the world I have been busy and required to do a fair amount of travel in the last 8-10 months.

That is the reason for the delay. I can't make them if I am not home.

In any case, I expect to be home for the next 6-8 weeks so that should permit time to churn out a fair number of the YICS/R tools.

 

I don't think the tools are still available. The last time I checked the dealers were asking over $100 USD for them if they can be ordered.

I can understand folks moving on to another solution due to the delays in my schedule.

One solution is to make your own. I see that links for various instructions have been posted. That's cool...

One thing though, don't use fuel line. It will usually melt in the YICS passage if left in too long. Something in a high-temp silicone tubing (what I use) works well and with a melting point of 600deg F, well, if your engine is that hot you have bigger problems than syncing the carbs

 

See previous post about the delay. I often don't have access to email (let alone Internet or phones) when working.

The tool you bought was one that I mfg'd.

As for being Canadian; So far I have shipped tools to:
USA, Canada, UK, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria Italy, France, Spain, Thailand, Oz, NZ, Greece, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and a couple of others I have forgotten.

So, no, it has nothing to do with you being Canadian.

 

Just a friendly note that the tools will start shipping next week.

The tools are shipped after payment is received. I don't make a huge profit on these so keeping them paid in advance makes it easy for me and everyone else.

 

Sorry we didn't connect on the YICS tool, I thought you've done an outstanding job on building them from what I could see on your web site.

I could only wait so long, then figure your not interested in the sale.

The tool I purchased off ebay is not one of your models!

Thanks for selling your product globally, it's good to hear.

 

Before switching to carbon fiber rod they were made from aluminum tubing.

I have seen a number of the early aluminum units I made being re-sold on eBay as OEM YICS tools. I am glad people are making good use of them.

In any case I hope having the proper tool has been helpful in tuning.

 

Regarding the spin-on adapter -
I have written to the address on the website a couple of times and do not get a response.
Is there another email address I should try?

Just been buried. Keeping up with XJOG, XJMG, XJ-Planet, XJBikes, YICS tools, adapters and the rest of my life has been keeping me a little busy.

The web page form automatically logs your info when you send it. It should also be sending an auto response with the details about the tools/adapters.

 

Word around the campfire is that Mike is working on a spin-on filter adapter that will tie in an oil cooler. He's still in the trial and error phase but that's the adapter I'm waiting on.

 

Heck YES, spin on oil filter and an oil cooler, pick me! Need a beta tester?

 

The link to the MonsterXJ YICS tool and spin on adapter doesn't work for me. Perhaps since it is over a year since it was posted, it is no longer valid. Are these still available??

 

It didn't work for me on my work computer also. On my home computer it worked fine.

yeah it works on the home PC and I put in a request for a YICS tool.

All is well.

 

one more question about the yics tool.

Is this tool good for all xj engines? I heard that there are some differences
and the tool made for xj 1100 won't be suitable for xj 900 or 750.
Is it true?
