xj550 starter motor

    Hi , have a guy here in Oz rebuilding an xj550 and needing a new starter motor . As I have a few xj900 ones , I was wondering if they would fit the 550 , cheers , Murray

    Nope— you need the [ 550 starter]. 650/700/750/900 starter [ is different].

    Hi Hogfiddles , you state that I need the 650/700/750 /900 starter motor , I stated that I have a couple of the 900 ones , not sure why your negative reply . I know the 650 to 900 are the same but have had no experience with the 550, cheers

    The XJ550 starter motors are completely different than the XJ650-900 motors, and will not interchange / cannot be mounted on the XJ650 - 900 engines.....they simply will not bolt up (the mounting systems are completely different!

    XJ 550 – you need an xj 550 starter

    XJ900 - You can use the 650/700/750/900 starter
