I did the cold run like you asked and same issue. I did pay mower attention to the hesitation is around starts about 2000 RPMs to 3000. But if you get on it it’s not there. I took volt readings at 2000RPMs and it was 14.15 VDC and 3000RPMs was 14.26 VDC.

I have a thought and taped half of my air filter with duct tape and went for a ride. My hesitation went from 2-3000 RPMs to 4-5000RPMs. Improvement. Came back and taped up the filter a little more than 3 3/4 of the way. Went for a ride and essentially it was gone. Still has a little studded at higher RPMs but to be expected since the carbs are set to a different air flow.

I’m thinking I need to put bigger jets in. I am currently running the stock jets from alphamoto #40 and #110. Do you have any suggestions what I should up the size to?

    Thanks

get yourself a oem filter, i think your problems will go away
i used two layers of UNI foam on a stock frame and had those kinds of problems

    I have a K&N.
It sits on my shelf of mistakes.

What filter do you recommend? The stock Yamaha one or Emgo makes one as well. They say it meets and exceeds OEM Paper filters

I'm curious on Emgo opinions as well. The OE filter I have is beat up pretty bad. So far I've been pleased with Emgo quality, but air filter elements can cause you tuning headaches if the media does not have the same flow restriction as OE.

IIRC EMGO makes the OEM filter too.

Ok thanks for all the help to everyone here. I just need a little bit more advice. I’m going to start over on my carbs now. Can someone please tell me a step by step procedure for the carb set up from scratch. When I set the idle mixture screw 2.5 full turns out. Where should I set my idle screw at etc. and how should I proceed from there.

    Thanks
