Check with Len. You're gonna have a challenge.....you have a Calif. model, right? If you're using the original carbs, then you need to make sure that you have the right kind ( can't remember if all 4 have the emissions port, or just a select number) of carb....Calif. vs. non-Calif.

I'd suggest the following: It was late last night when I read your other post, I can't remember if you got the screw out or not........If you can drill it to extract it, even if it messes up the threads you may be ok. There were fine-thread and coarse-thread screws. It may be possible to re-thread the hole with the other thread. As long as the needle seat is not messed up, then the o-ring/washer/spring can still do THEIR thing and allow the mix to work properly.

Now, if the threads have been boogered up TOO much to re-tap.........here's a possibility--there is a guy up here who makes precision metal parts.....he's copying a very tiny screw/anchorpin for a civil war side-action rotary valve trumpet for me right now ( a music customer of mine came across it and I'm restoring it for him).....this is a very not-available part, and it has a very odd tiny thread on it. He's making me a whole set of them. I could take a mix screw up to him and see about having an "over-size" screw made with whatever size tap you would need to use. Something to consider..........

On the California bikes, only the #2 carb has the emissions port, the other three are typical of the non-Cali machines. I touched base with Len, but I am hesitant to spend $100 for the shell of a single carb when an entire rack can be had (albeit filthy) for just a few bucks more. Sorry Len, I do appreciate the quote.
I was not able to get all the brass out, but I turned away in frustration before I got too ham-handed/destructive and I intend to take another stab with the dental picks today. If I can clear it out (I think the spring is binding some pieces up) I would be thrilled to try and save this with just a little tap work and a custom screw. I'll keep in touch.

 

Kind of thought that, but couldn't remember through the morning fog........
