Okay so I bought a XJ750RL the other day for 500$ buddy didn't know what it was or what year it was, just knew it was a XJ series 750 from the mid 80s, I found on my own it's a 84' XJ750RL

Issues kept popping up left right and center from minute one, I'm 100% certain this guy has the wrong plugs in the bike, Currently there are some black fouled BPR5ES in my Bike, I see alot of mid 80s XJ guys say they use something from the NGK BPR7ES series. So I'm wondering if those would be the right plugs. I also see the '84 seca's and on an Australian site as well they take a
BPR8ES. (Not going to buy plugs until I'm sure)

My Air Fuel Mixture was nice and tampered with from 1-4 they were at 4.5 intervals .5 intervals 1.5 intervals 4 intervals, Does anyone know where these bikes like to sit I'd imagine around the 2 mark.

My bike gets power, cranks, gets fuel to the engine(Carbs been rebuilt already by me), has compression I've had it turn over twice only after taking out the sparks and cleaning them with some sand paper gently, but nothing since and when I pulled the plugs after that of course they were wet. do you think I have the problem diagnosed and it will run will the correct plugs or is there further investigating that needs to be done?

The plugs are way wrong (should be BPR8ES), and the fuel settings are also way wrong (should be aound 2.5 turns out, but you'll have to fine-tune that with a Colortune plug, or by reading new spark plugs).
This leads one to conclude that you will find other things that will need to be corrected.

I'd go through the whole bike completely, so you aren't chasing your tail forever.

The first place to start is by reading the first link in my signature.
PM sent with some other info as well.

And after many many more problems and the help of the service manual, my bike now runs optimally, with 0 issues, thanks for the help

Did you rebuild the brake systems, including making sure that the brake lines aren't the originals?
Rebuild the forks (or at least replace the seals and fill with new oil)?
Were the valve clearances checked and adjusted as-needed?
    Wheel bearings inspected?
Control cables inspected for fraying and lubricated?
My point is, you have a bike that's over 30 years old and it wasn't running right. Until and unless you go through the whole machine she can't be considered fit for the road.

7 days of doing nothing but fixing this bike, I've dotted every I and crossed every T. Completely disassembled and reassembled, I can honestly say I've never had to work on any bike so hard in my life. The last two days have been amazing with her.
