Hey, just a quick question. On my control panel, my gas gauge has suddenly stopped giving a reading. Everything else seems to be working correctly. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Double check that the sending unit hasn’t come unplugged. Flat,white,two-wore connected under the tank just above the air box.

When you first turn the ignition on do you see the systems monitor light up all of the system displays during the self-check?

I’m trying to avoid you needing to pull the sending unit, so checking everything else first.

you could measure the ohms from the connector with different levels of fuel in the tank

I would guess it is similar to the Seca with a CMS - approximately 25 ohms full, 325 ohms empty. If the sender opens the gauge will read empty all the time.

Is the Maxim sending unit way harder to get to than say a Seca Turbo? 4 bolts and 5 minutes and mine is out. Easy enough to move it up and down and see if it's reading correctly.

Also, Pie. Bacon. Burbon. Is that like bourbon? That's been driving me nuts for a few months. ;)

Getting it out isn't the issue. It's getting it out nd having a new gasket on hand.
Extra work is extra work, and best avoided if possible.
The only reason to remove the sending unit is if the resitance check shows a need for cleaning or replacement.

You are the first person to notice my intentional typo. I've been waiting for years.

How would you test the resistance without removing it? Wouldn't it be easiest to test resistance with the full sweep with the float? I don't know how you would do that without just pulling it out.

Yeah I guess I should have clarified that I didn't see a way without an empty tank and then a full tank to get the full sweep. That seems like it would take longer that just pulling it and moving it by hand.
