Hey new to this site. I have a 84 xj 650 maxim, the head light was replaced and still works sometimes. Replaced the fuse, tried all connectors and everything seems good, dont know what else to check? any help or suggestions would be great as I"m not great with mechanical stuff, but still tinker ! I have taken the tank off and tried replacing the relay boxes as well to no avail, sometimes jiggling the relay box thats under the left side panel makes the light come back on, but when i turn the bike off & restart it the light is out again!

the head light runs off of a relay possible a bad connection in the connector.
glass fuses? you should upgrade to blade fuses
you will need to check relay connector for voltage when bike is running.
