    As the drawing in the service manual is not so clear here is a picture of the alternator rotor locking tool in position it might be useful to some owners.

    @Franz
    Would you mind uploading the original photo to a hosting site and embedding it, as well as keeping the photo you uploaded here? That would make it easier to view, while also keeping it available should the hosting site restrict access in the future.

    So is someone selling these tools, or you just happened to come across a single seller of an original one? I can't seem to find them on any eBay listing?

    I borrowed a foot, but the tool makes that unnecessary.

    I borrowed a foot for removing the rotor but got the tool for installing it, a good find on E Bay :D. I wonder if some of the people on this forum could make one of these tools I would try it if I had a welder.

    Wouldn't a strap wrench work ? The kind that has a leather strap ? They come in different sizes. I don't know ive never had to take one apart.

    Possibly I have not tried it. There must be a way of removing it easier for people who don't have the tool. It can be made surely. I am going to cut one of these door handle latch bars so I can cut and bend it to the angle of the lugs on the tool. Then it is a matter of getting them welded to a metal plate and then forming the curved part of the tool and welding it to the plate. The bar from the door handle is slightly larger would need cut down slightly. With welding equipment and metal cutting tools this should be easy to do.

    Not at all. The rotor is deep enough into the housing that the handle for a strap wrench would not allow enough leverage to get thh bolt removed. BTDT, bought the T-shirt.

    A wooden wedge does the job though if the engine is already out of the frame. The proper tool is the best in all if the engine is out of the frame.

    Yes that's right the crankcase is covering most of the rotor.

    I just hit the bolt with an air impact gun. No need for a holding tool.

    How about when reinstalling? Torque values matter.

    I use the clack method. Two clacks from the impact gun and good to go.
